Rihanna 'Only Girl in the World' video

So Rihanna's hotly-anticipated 'Only Girl in the World' video came out this week and can we say welcome back to happy Rihanna?

After the dark and depressing nature of many of the videos from the Rated R album, the rose-tinted Only Girl is a complete turnaround - it's a girly, euphoric fantasy, complete with balloons, flowers, fireworks, twinkly lights in trees, tutus and lots of spinning in said tutu and other frothy, girly outfits.

New music videos - Rihanna & Vita Chambers

Ok, islandistas, we are giving you three for the price of one here - just for the sake of contrasting Rihanna and Vita Chambers' new and very, very different videos. 

 

Rihanna put out two vids in the last two weeks - one in Europe for her love song Te Amo and one in the US for her song Rock Star 101. 

 

Fellow Bajan songbird Vita Chambers also put out a new vid for her song Like Boom.

And ... well. Did I mention they are different? Ri-ri's vids, especially Rock Star 101 are back to being very, very dark after the welcomed peppiness of Rude Boy - the shots with her in the horned headpiece in the middle of the circle certainly won't do anything to help those 'Rihanna is a devil worshipper' rumours. Clearly the intention was to feed that loose talk - even though clever folk will argue it's just the jagged R that has been the symbol of her Rated R album - but the inference is clear.

Vita's video on the other hand, is fun, upbeat and full of sweetness and light - in aura, if not in musical style, much like Rihanna in 2005.

New vid: Alexandra Burke's 'All Night Long'

Islandista and X-Factor winner Alexandra Burke unveiled her latest music video this week -  for her dance tune All Night Long.

While the song itself is pretty generic dance pop, the video is something else - a raucous, raunchy house-party with girls kissing girls, club kids in Crayola shades and Alex herself in a dramatic look - a black leather leotard with one puff-ball shoulder and glittery eyeshadow.

Vita Chambers' Young Money vid

Young islandista singer Vita Chambers, the youngest member of the 'Bajan Invasion' of pop (Rihanna, Shontelle, Hal Linton, Livvi Franc, Jaicko) going on right now, is making some major moves of her own lately.

Along with Hal and Shontelle, she was part of the Motown 50th anniversary tribute show at the halftime of the NFL's Detroit Lions v Green Bay Packers game.

Now, her video for Young Money has dropped today. It's very teenaged rock and roll - lots of jumping and moshing and jamming with the band.

Beyoncé, & Lady Gaga. The video was directed by Hype Williams. On October 15, 2009, a spokesperson for Williams confirmed to MTV News that reports of Lady Gaga and Beyoncé working on the music video together were true.
Although details are still scarce about just what Beyoncé and Lady Gaga will be doing in the video, Gaga did talk about the clip in a new interview: "When I was doing her video with her, she called me and she said, 'What do you want to do?'" Gaga explained in an interview with New York's Z100 radio station on Tuesday morning (October 27): "And I'm like, 'I don't want to show up in some frickin' hair bow and be Fashion Gaga in your video.' I said, 'I want to do you.'" In a photo that emerged from the video shoot, Gaga was seen wearing a white strapless leotard with matching opera gloves, and her long hair is loose and flowing. "I want to do my version of Beyoncé", she said. "So the whole time I was learning the choreography they were calling me Gee-yoncé."
"Video Phone" was set to premiere in the United States on MTV and MTV.com on November 5, 2009 at 5:30 p.m. EST and in 162 other countries after the MTV Europe Music Awards; however, due to unknown reasons the video did not premiere as scheduled. The video will premiere on November 17, 2009 at 12:01 a.m. EST.


MTV Jams, Beyoncé’s new music video for “Video Phone” will premiere this TUESDAY. It will be their new Jam of the Week. There will also be 30 second clips released every hour on Monday.
