Well, just listen to this mess.

We wish she was being tongue in cheek, but no, Lisa Hype, the 'first lady' of Vybz Kartel's Portmore/Gaza Empire is dead serious about being proud of bleaching out her skin.

She told the Jamaica Star earlier this week:

"A bleaching a run the place and it all right because dat fi show yuh seh yuh a tek care of yourself."

EH? I cannot even follow that logic... so destroying your skin is taking care of yourself now? Since when and how come nobody ent tell us here at islandista?

Lisa's well proud of the track too, telling the Star that it running tings:

"Di girl dem seh mi a lock it fi dem this year. A me alone a talk fi dem. Mi nuh know which girl nowadays nah bleach, even fi use likkle Nadinola and rub on fi mek dem face cool.

People a bun it (bleaching). Nuff a dem a bun it and dem gal a do it. Mi nuh hear nobody lash out against the song. Everybody see mi and seh it gone."

She also admitted (as if we couldn't tell from her duppy face) that she has been bleaching for about two years because she likes the look.

Ordinarily you know, we would want to just throw up our hands in despair but trust, this got we vex.

What de hell is wrong with Kartel and Gaza? A so dem mus dark and anti-progressive?

Everything that is wrong and despicable in society them must tek up and glorify, from sexing underage teenagers (Virginity) to dissing up university students to pushing this destructive Gaza/Gully rivalry to bleaching?

Blasted idiots.

Dancehall bits and pieces...

So we have pure news from yaad for you this morning, starting with a review of the style on display at the Hype TV awards weekend before last.

To be honest, judging from the pics I've seen on yardflex, most of them just 'nuh mek it' as Jamaicans say. I know it's dancehall but a lot of the outfits were way flashy and over the top.

Barbee for instance, seemed to be channeling a flamenco dancer in a red and gold frilled satin atrocity when she appeared on the red carpet with video director Jay Will.

Purported style icon, former model and boutique owner D'Angel also had a flop with insanely frizzy hair and a slightly tacky looking little black dress. It wasn't terrible but it just wasn't good either.



Queen Ifrica's outfit was not a miss but it was not a hit either. It was a pretty decent long purple and white gown but it just did not have any wow factor IMO.



The one outfit that I really did like - I can't even find out who is the person wearing it since it wasn't captioned and I ent so familiar with every single smaddy in di dancehall fraternity.



It's unusual and truth be told it may not be everyone's cup of tea, what with the big bow going down the middle but I think it's cute and funky, love the angles and folds in the dress and the hot colours. You have to have attitude to work a dress like this and she's working it.

Onward... speaking of D'Angel, it looks like she is really kicking Beenie to the curb for good this time, despite the happy families show we saw from them a few months ago at Marco Dean's 2nd birthday party. After his outburst the other day on Ed Lover's radio programme, she like she decide it's time to make things right in the 09.

How yuh mean! Long time she shoulda do it too. Beenie like too much passa passa and foolishness. It was a bitch-ass move to skin out his old business yet again on radio. Keep it moving girl.

In other dancehall bits and pieces, Vybz Kartel got the industry buzzing again with some more saucy pictures of him and a female artist. You may remember all the talk when the promotional pics of him and Spice came out last year for their hot hit (now banned) Ramping Shop. It had people wondering if he and Spice were an item but it was vehemently denied by Spice and it even came to light that her man was at the photo shoot.

But these ones now with Portmore Empire protege Lisa Hype even more X-rated and NSFW (not safe for work!) than the Spice pics. At least with the Spice ones, they were both semi-dressed but these... well if he and Lisa ent doing the thing, someone should explain why his hands are on her bubbies. I'm just saying...

A likkle dancehall suss

So hear this now... Beenie Man is set to be a grandfather - at the ripe 'ole' age of 35! 

According to one876entertainment.com, his 16 year old daughter is about 6 months preggers and expecting a girl.

No comment yet from Beenie's people but rumours have been flying around JA for days and an unnamed 'industry insider' confirmed it, telling one876:

"She is not here, she is in Florida. The rumors were getting out of hand, Beenie Man is going through a lot right now, my heart goes out to him at this time because of all his other troubles. It’s tough for this to happen, but I guess it is also another life coming into the world."

A so it go. Damn shame but it does happen. Apparently the girl's mother lives in Canada but she lives in JA. Hm. I have my own views about Jamaican women and their penchant for emigrating and leaving their children back a yaad but that is a whole other post.

People have been susu-ing about who is the baby father. Some say it is a teenaged boy she was going out with a few months back, others say it is a fairly prominent DJ... awoaah! You know this isn't the last you will hear of this...

Anyways, onward islandistas!

What, not appealing to you? Not me either, but it is news. I don't know how these dancehall DJs don't seem able to keep a wife. First Beenie and D'Angel didn't last longer than a sno-cone in hell and now Vybz and the woman he just married not two years ago done. Apparently she live 'a farrin' and stopped visiting him after his US visa was revoked. In two twos (well maybe more than two) she was pregnant and not for him. So that kind of done up them marriage.
