Limo driver apologises to Naomi Campbell over attack allegations

Boy, all we could do is laugh when we read this one.

Somehow, the limo driver who was allegedly attacked by Naomi Campbell earlier this week, has ended up apologising to her.


The driver, Miodrag Mejdina, issued a statement through his lawyer which said:

"I got angry and overreacted. It was a misunderstanding and I regret involving the police. This whole thing has been blown out of proportion and I apologize to Ms. Campbell for causing that to happen."

So, basically he is apologising for being an informer? Naomi is a real don... a Dudus yu name?

Most folks are taking this apology with a lump of salt, since the driver happens to work for Naomi's billionaire Russian boyfriend, Vladimir Doronin.

When asked if his client had been paid off to drop the case, his lawyer Earl Ward, said:

"The statement speaks for itself. We have no further comment."

So ... take that as you will.

However, it didn't stop Naomi from issuing a pretty haughty statement which said:

"I have worked very hard on correcting my previous wrongdoings and I will not be held hostage to my past.... "I am pleased the driver has apologized. I would like to put the last few days behind me and move on."

Oh Naomi ...

UK music tidbits - Leona, Alexandra and Keisha

All kinds of things going on with our UK islandistas this week.

First, the follow-up to the shocking attack on Leona Lewis - apparently the attacker, 29 year old Peter Kowalczyk, was a bitter X-Factor reject.

His father told UK tabloid the Sun:

"He wants to be a singer. He went along and queued at X Factor. How far he got with it? Nowhere."

Apparently Kowalczyk waited FIVE HOURS in line at the book signing just so he could get at Leona.

Who is of course now terrified. The Sun quotes a source as saying she is terrified to go out, thinking the  next crazy attacker could have something more deadly than a fist.

In happier news, fellow X-factor winner Alexandra Burke is heading for number one with her first post- X-factor song - Bad Boys.

And she's beating Brit pop legend Robbie Williams handily in the race for number one too.

She has sold 89,384 copies so far as compared to 42,751 for Robbie's Bodies and her tune is number one on itunes.

Oh, and the tune is the fastest selling song for 2009 too.

Cos that's how we islandistas do it. Get um Alex!

And in more islandista news, Keisha Buchanan may well have the last laugh in the Sugababes war of 09.

She is in hot demand for collaborations and is already back in the studio, with Ne-Yo apparently on the list of would-be collaborators.

Meanwhile, Amelle Berabah, whose dramatic disappearance that wasn't, was the spur that forced Keisha out of the group she founded, has entered a clinic, suffering from severe nervous exhaustion.

Poor thing, apparently the stress of backraising Keisha and getting her own way in forcing her out, has been very 'traumatic'.

Hmm. Karma is a bee-atch.

Leona Lewis ATTACKED at book signing!

Well what the fecking feck?!



 

British singer (and islandista by descent) Leona Lewis was randomly slapped by a male 'fan' at a book signing today at a Waterstone's book store in London.

One eyewitness told the BBC:

"My brother saw the whole incident. He [the attacker] walked up there with the book, she signed it and, as she looked up, he just punched her."

Another said:

"She was running out with her hand over her eye and I just saw a man on the floor. Suddenly the security all jumped on him and they were trying to pull him out and he was just laughing, he thought it was funny.'

Obviously, the book signing did not continue as Leona was majorly shaken up, even if not too badly hurt (from initial reports).

Her management released a statement a short while ago saying:

'Leona was the victim of an unprovoked attack this afternoon at her book signing. The police were called immediately and medical attention has been sought.

'Leona is understandably shaken and apologises to the fans she was unable to meet and complete signings for.


 


Poor girl. Of all the celebs to get slapped, why Leona who is from all accounts, a really sweet girl?


 


I guess duppy really know who to frighten boy... bet he wouldn't have tried that on Naomi!
